NIKE: WRITE THE FUTURE

Nike Write The Future from Wieden + Kennedy London

Nike has proven to be the most relevant brand for the 2010 Soccer World Cup in South Africa, so far. They’ve pitched with a 3 minute TV commercial, which is very long for TV ads. Extremely long in fact. Yet this ad is very entertaining all throughout, even though it doesn’t contain so much as a voice-over (making it a universal product). Too clever.

Altogether this is ad could be labeled as ambush marketing since NIKE aren’t an official FIFA WC 2010 sponsor, but the magic three minutes of entertainment overrides the ambush marketing claim, because it is simply such a good ad.

This is also purely football being advertised, not so much the WC2010 event. This shows that NIKE are a great brand, above ambush with the ability to override the World Cup event. So “Write the future” is an ad filled with raw passion, which is really what football is all about.

Props to Wieden + Kennedy, London.
